Meet Ralph Temple, Master Framer
In addition to a long and successful career spanning over 35 years in custom frame design, Ralph Temple has been working in the arts all his life. He received recognition from an early age, and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from the University of Alberta.
In 1981, he was hired as Technician at the Walter Phillips Gallery, at the Banff Centre, and settled in the Bow Valley. Ralph became involved in the Canmore Artists’ and Artisans’ Guild, and was asked to join the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour.
In 1983, he was included in a CTV documentary about artists in Canada. Ralph developed the Bow Valley Visual Arts portion of the Olympic Arts Festival for the 1988 Winter Olympics, and exhibited many times locally and in Toronto.
Ralph has produced several large public murals in the Bow Valley, most notably on Lawrence Grassi Middle School, which has since been torn down, but from which images were reproduced for the interior of the new replacement school.Left image: Overhang at Policeman’s Creek - acrylic, 23” x 35” by Ralph Temple

Come visit our artist-in-residence Réal Fournier!
Live Painting Weekly: Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm
About the artist: Through his artistic work, Réal Fournier invites you to a new dimension.
The origin of his sketches starts with a question «Who am I today?» Then, eyes closed, he let his pen dancing on a piece of paper and observe afterwards these inter- twined lines; from there, he outlines and discovers his drawing.
There is a real childlike «joie de vivre» about Réal’s work. He explores through his art infinite dimensions. When he is painting, Réal wears 3D glasses, it allows him to create multiple layers of colours in terms of the perspective of his drawing. We are then transport into a fantastic universe.
«I now understand why I am painting like that,» he says, «it is like I’m living the life of my childhood again. From all the imagery I am creating, I’m just seeing myself as a happy child. Inside, I get closer to what my dreams say, that I will feel a profound joy to paint who I am.»
Réal Fournier’s artworks can be found in numerous collections across North America and many countries in Europe.
Come by Webster Galleries today to visit and talk with artist Réal Fournier.
